Upgrade your QBCC licence or add another class.

BLS checks whether you need an upgrade, variation, new application or mutual recognition, then helps prepare the extra qualifications and documents.

Start with the right application.

  • Current licence and restrictions reviewed
  • Correct application type identified
  • Extra requirements explained before you commit

What to check before changing or upgrading a QBCC licence.

Changing a licence is not always a straight line. The application depends on what you hold now, the additional work you plan to offer and the qualifications or experience that support the change.

  1. 01

    Current licence position

Your current licence type, class, restrictions and business arrangement affect which application comes next.

  2. 02

Additional work the licence must cover

The new class should cover the additional building or trade work you plan to offer.

  3. 03

    Evidence for the change

Upgrades and broader classes may need experience, qualifications or referee support beyond the current licence.

  4. 04

    Which application comes first

Mutual recognition, new applications, variations and company/nominee questions can change the order of steps.

Make the next licence change without starting from scratch.

BLS reviews what you already hold, checks the application that fits the change and helps prepare anything extra QBCC will need.

Help with the application

You know the work. We help get the application sorted.

  • Review your current class, conditions and business arrangement.
  • Check what a higher class, broader scope or different licence type requires.
  • Compare mutual recognition, a new application and any available variation process.
  • Handle qualification, RPL or company questions before lodgement.

Who this is for

  • Existing QBCC licence holders who need a higher class or broader scope.
  • Supervisors or trades moving toward contractor responsibilities.
  • Interstate or NZ applicants preparing to apply in Queensland.

When another service may fit better

  • Applicants wanting to bypass class, scope or nominee requirements.
  • People looking for legal or accounting advice outside application support.

Know what is included before you proceed.

Licence and registration applications vary by state, class and how much preparation is needed. The free check gives BLS enough information to explain the service and provide a quote.

What affects the quote

The quote depends on where you are applying, the type of application, what records you already have and how much preparation is still needed.

Included work
BLS confirms the included application and evidence work before you proceed.
Other fees
Regulator, RTO, insurance, police check and other third-party fees are separate unless a proposal expressly includes them.
Qualification gaps
RPL or training is recommended only where a genuine qualification gap is identified.
Assessment
The regulator or RTO assesses the application or qualification and makes the final decision.
