Stepping up to run the site?

BLS helps experienced tradespeople and foremen apply for the QBCC licence that allows them to supervise building work as an employee.

Start with the right application.

  • Relevant supervisor class checked
  • Technical qualifications reviewed
  • Current application requirements confirmed

What QBCC checks for a site supervisor licence.

Start with the supervisor class, its technical qualification and the current application form. Identity, work eligibility and suitability requirements also apply.

  1. 01

The right class and licence type

A site supervisor licence allows supervision as an employee of a licensed contractor in the relevant class. It does not provide contractor rights.

  2. 02

    Technical qualification

Check the qualification prescribed for the supervisor class and whether your certificate or transcript meets it. Explore RPL only for a genuine qualification gap.

  3. 03

    Identity and suitability

Prepare the identification, work eligibility and suitability information requested in the current QBCC application.

  4. 04

    Any additional evidence

Project history or referee material may be needed for RPL or a separate builder or nominee application. Do not assume those requirements apply to every site supervisor application.

Get the supervisor application and qualification requirements clear.

BLS checks the applicable class and current form, reviews your qualifications and helps prepare the information QBCC asks for.

Help with the application

You know the work. We help get the application sorted.

  • Check the site supervisor class that applies to your role.
  • Review your qualifications against the selected supervisor class.
  • Prepare identity, work eligibility and other required application details.
  • Check any qualification gap before completing the application.

Who this is for

  • Supervisors moving up from trade roles.
  • Employees responsible for overseeing building work under a licensed contractor in the relevant class.
  • Applicants whose job title alone does not show the supervision work they performed.

When another service may fit better

  • Applicants who need contractor rights rather than supervision as an employee.
  • People seeking contractor rights from a supervisor-only pathway.

Know what is included before you proceed.

Licence and registration applications vary by state, class and how much preparation is needed. The free check gives BLS enough information to explain the service and provide a quote.

What affects the quote

The quote depends on where you are applying, the type of application, what records you already have and how much preparation is still needed.

Included work
BLS confirms the included application and evidence work before you proceed.
Other fees
Regulator, RTO, insurance, police check and other third-party fees are separate unless a proposal expressly includes them.
Qualification gaps
RPL or training is recommended only where a genuine qualification gap is identified.
Assessment
The regulator or RTO assesses the application or qualification and makes the final decision.
